Welcome to the fe2 Women’s Mentoring Network.
..if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
Prayer walking is a great way to get active in prayer and is as simple as it sounds – you pray as you walk. You can go alone or ask your family or friends to pray together as you walk around your neighborhood.
To be more compliant but creative, you could setup a prayer relay. Schedule an “exchange” point with your group where you can meet (at least 6 feet apart). One person starts where the other person finishes. This could be a wonderful visual for prayer.
Are you in a Home Group, Bible Study, or Fellowship University Group? Perhaps, you have connected with a small group of friends during this time. Use the prayer vigil to pray together (over Zoom) or just during the same time block. If you are praying as a group, take more than one time slot or commit to provide accountability for one another as you each take a 30-minute prayer slot.
If you struggle to focus during times of prayer or just want to engage your whole family in prayer, try something more interactive: use dice and assign someone you want to pray for, or a way to interact with God (e.g. silence, thanking, singing, etc.) to each number.
Roll the dice and spend a few minutes on the prayer assignment it gives you.
Download the Inner Room App for iPhone or Android. It is the 24-7 Prayer Room application for creating a prayer list prior to your assigned prayer time. It is a surprisingly helpful tool to thoughtfully approaching prayer.
If you often find yourself praying about the same things, bring some variety and balance to your conversation with God by using the ACTS acronym:
A is for Adoration – spend time worshipping Jesus. Use your favorite music, a Psalm, write something, or choose a recent answer to prayer to inspire your praise.
C is for Confession – Ask the Holy Spirit to show you when you have sinned and fallen short of God’s love recently - you might want to use the words of a Psalm as your prayer. Say sorry for whatever comes to mind and ask the Holy Spirit to help you change your future behavior.
T is for Thanksgiving – think, speak or write a list of good things in your life today and thank God for each of them.
S is for supplication – supplication is another word for asking. Ask God to intervene in each situation you face. There's no special language or strategy needed. Jesus encourages us to keep it simple.
